Bedroom mural - Balcony sceneThis couple asked me to create a view from opening patio doors onto a balcony. They owned a property in Spain and wanted to recreate some of the features from there villa and to also include their pet cat.

I started by painting an English country landscape with a little village church in the distance, which gave depth to the mural. I then moved on to creating a balcony with plants climbing over the edge of the wall, a stone tiled floor flower pots and the family pet cat. I painted in a patio door frame which gave the impression that the doors were wide open bringing the out side in. In side I painted a climbing plant growing out of a pot to frame the whole mural.

Mural of an old English cottage.

My clients already had a good idea of what they wanted, providing reference for me.

To make the painting blend into the wall area I faded out the edges, this gave it a lovely soft feel to the mural using the full wall space as a canvas.

These clients had a basement flat with no windows, so they wanted to create the illusion of a large window with a country village scene, it brought the room to life.

I painted a village green with a large tree and cottages in the distance to create depth to the painting. I wanted a feel of a reel sunny day so painted dark shadows under the tree and soft light greens on the grass to give the impression of a sunny day.

This mural was to create the illusion of a view from a window, looking out to sea, a tranquil setting, making a room feel open and more spacious. A great way to give character to a closed in room with out any windows.

I painted soft pale sea with a couple of boats in the distance to give movement to the painting and an old sea wall and stones creating a calm quiet sea view.

Mount art
This original idea came to me when some friends of mine had been on a walking holiday. Taking some beautiful photographs of the scenery they walked through. The scenery being so picturesque they had the idea of making a collage of a few of their favourite photos and of me bringing together the images with pencil drawing turning it into a piece of art. It worked so well, I wanted to try other subjects using the same idea. The list could be endless.

Colage of country landscape and waterfalls

Using the mount board as an artists surface to draw, I took the photos and carried on with pencil what I thought would be beyond the picture, to create a bigger view, with trees and rocky landscape and bringing all the photos together.

Graduation day

A really lovely way to display a graduation day, Using the University as the background .

The University building was very grand with great charactor which gave a really good look to the over all drawing.
